OPEN COMPETITION / CALL FOR SONGS
for the selection of Montenegro’s entry for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest.


1. Who has the right to participate in the competition?

  • Authors from all over the world, regardless of their home country and/or nationality, have the right to enter the competition.
  • One author can submit no more than 2 (two) songs to the competition.

  • 2. Duration of the competition

  • The open call/competition starts on the day of its publication on RTCG’s official website www.rtcg.me as well as in daily newspapers, and it will conclude with the 10th of December 2021.

  • 3. Subject of the competition

  • Songs that haven’t been released prior to the 1st of October 2021 can be submitted to the competition.

  • 4. Conditions

  • The author submitting the song guarantees that they are the sole creator of it, that it is their original spiritual piece, as well as that the song and/or its individual parts are not taken from others’ pieces, with a certificate of registration of the piece in the country which guarantees and protects the rights of music authors.
  • The author needs to submit the final version of the song, as well as the instrumental version with no backing vocals. The duration of the song can not exceed 3 (three) minutes.
  • All performing artists must be aged at least 16 on the day of the Eurovision live show, on the 10th of May, 2022.
  • There may be no more than six performing artists on stage.
  • The authors cannot withdraw their submitted entries subsequently, and the submitted documentation is not going to be returned.

  • 5. Application procedure

  • Authors need to apply anonymously, and the application will contain a five-digit code, which will represent that application throughout the selection process.
  • The application is submitted by enclosing a large envelope which will contain the final version of the song, which can last up to 3 (three) minutes, performed by the artist(s) who would perform the song in the Contest (this should be submitted on either USB or a CD), as well as 5 (five) printed copies of the lyrics.
  • Inside the large envelope should also be a smaller envelope, which will contain the information about the identity of the author(s), their biography, as well as the certificate of the organization for protection of copyrights and related rights, confirming the registration of the piece that is being submitted.
    The smaller envelope will be opened in case the submitted song goes on to the next level of the selection, as per the decision of the Selection Committee.
  • The artist(s) performing the song need to include the Certificate of Montenegrin citizenship, as well as their biography.

  • 6. Competition criteria

  • Song – up to 50 points;
  • Lyrics – up to 30 points;
  • Productional potential of the piece – up to 20 points.
    The maximum amount of points a submitted entry can score is 100.

  • 7. Application submission

  • All applicants are required to send their sealed envelopes to the following address:
    Radio-televizija Crne Gore, Podgorica, Bulevar revolucije 19, Arhiva RTCG – VI sprat, with the following note:
    Konkurs za Pjesmu Evrovizije 2022. NE OTVARATI.
  • On the back of the large envelope the applicants need to write the five-digit code, which will be representing their entry throughout the submission process.
  • Late submissions will not be considered.
  • By taking part in this competition, each applicant accepts and acknowledges the rules of the competition, as well as the conditions determined by the Rulebook of the Procedure for selecting Montenegro’s song for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest.
    RTCG reserves the right to suggest certain changes and/or additions to the song, as well as a potential change of the performing artist(s).
